PPAPD/ Reuse Library: Creating libraries from rows in records
Navigation Path: APQP > DFMEA-PFD-PFMEA-Control Plan (or Reuse Library)> [Select Record] > DFMEA, PFD, PFMEA, or Control Plan tab
Reuse Library Training Materials can be found here.
Selected rows from a PPAPD or Reuse Library record's deliverable tabs can be used to generate a new Reuse Library record directly from the data table. This creates the library and automatically links the selected rows to it, allowing those rows to receive future updates when the library is published.
Access
This feature requires the user to have the proper role. If you are not able to perform the function, please contact your setup administrator to confirm your roles are configured correctly. For help finding your administrator, see Finding Your Setup Administrator.
External accounts do not have access to any Reuse record information unless it is used in a PPAPD record which is then linked to an APQP/PPAP Package. Only users with access to that package are able to view this information. Learn more about this process in this article.
Creating a Library from Rows
- Open a PPAPD or Reuse Library record and navigate to the DFMEA, PFD, PFMEA, or Control Plan tab.
- Select one or more rows in the data table.
- Right-click the selected rows and choose Create Library From Row(s) from the context menu.
- Complete the Create Reuse Library modal that opens (see field descriptions below).
- Click CREATE.
The new Reuse Library record is generated with all four deliverables (DFMEA, PFD, PFMEA, and Control Plan) set to an In-Work status at version 1. The selected rows are automatically linked to the new library. This is reflected in the Library column of the data table and in the Library Information panel on the right side of the record.
Create Reuse Library Modal Fields
Library Info
Reuse Library Name
Required. Name associated with the content within the DFMEA-PFD-PFMEA-CP. This must be unique.
Programs
Programs or other categories to which the reuse library belongs (multiple may be selected if available to you). May be required, depending on your company's security settings.
If your program list is empty or is missing the program you need, then your account's administrator may need to align your User ID with programs.
Manufacturing Location
Optional. Manufacturing location or code associated with this record.
Your Organization's Info
Organization Name
Account name of the library record creator. This is automatically filled in.
Divisions
Division(s) within the account, usually corresponding with a facility or location that may utilize this record's content. Multiple may be selected if available to you. This field will only appear if the Net-Inspect account has configured divisions and may be required.
A user may only be able to select divisions that are aligned with their User ID and with the part record.
Data Generated by Deliverable Type
The content populated in the new library depends on which deliverable tab the rows were selected from:
- PFD, PFMEA, or Control Plan: Row data is pulled across all three deliverables with proper linkage maintained between shared columns. The DFMEA deliverable is generated but left blank.
- DFMEA: Row data is populated in the DFMEA deliverable only. The PFD, PFMEA, and Control Plan deliverables are generated but left blank.
Library Association and Row Linking
Once a library is generated, the selected rows are linked to it. The Library column in the data table will display the new library record number for those rows, and the library will appear in the Library Information panel grouped by operation.
If all rows in a record that are linked to a given library are replaced by rows from a different library generated the same way, that library is removed from the record. If only some rows are replaced, the original library remains linked for the rows it still covers. Libraries that are no longer associated with any rows in a record are not deleted from the system — they remain available for use in other records.
Note that updates from the PPAPD or Reuse Library record do not propagate back to the library. Updates from the library will only propagate to the record once the library is published and acknowledged. To learn more about the acknowledgements process, see PPAPD/ Reuse Library: Acknowledgements.
