Requests: Preferences Setup
Navigation Path: Gear Icon > Company Setup > Requests Setup > Preferences
The Preferences page allows administrators to configure the available request types for their organization. This setup determines which request type options appear throughout the Requests module, including the create page, individual records, and the main requests list page.
You will need the Requests Admin role to access and modify this setup page. Additionally, your account must have a Requests module license to use this functionality. If you do not have a Requests license, please contact sales@net-inspect.com for licensing information.
All setup pages must be complete before you or your supplier can generate Requests records. This is to ensure all data is in place before a record is generated.
Overview
Request types define the categories of requests that can be created and managed within your organization. The system provides three pre-configured request types, but administrators can customize the display names, descriptions, and supplier access permissions to meet their organization's specific workflow requirements.
Types and Descriptions Table
The main table displays all configured request types with the following columns:
Type
System identifier for the request type. The three available options are:
- Concession: Post-production request to ship nonconforming product
- Deviation: Pre-production request to manufacture product which deviates from the original specification
- Custom Type 1: Configurable request type for organization-specific needs
Preferred Name
Required when visible. The display name that appears throughout the Requests module. This customizable field allows organizations to use terminology that matches their internal processes. The preferred name displays:
- On the create request page in the Request Type dropdown
- On individual request records in the header information
- On the main requests list page under the "Request Type" column
Description
Optional. Detailed explanation of when and how this request type should be used. This description appears in dropdown menus on both the create page and individual records to help users select the appropriate request type for their situation.
Supplier Can Initiate
Required. Controls whether supplier users can create requests of this type. Options are:
- Yes: Suppliers can initiate requests of this type
- No: Only customer users can create requests of this type (internal use only)
This setting provides flexibility in determining which request types suppliers can submit versus those reserved for internal customer use.

- Supplier Access Changes: Affects future request creation but does not impact existing requests
- Removed Types: Existing requests retain their type designation even if the type is removed from active use
