Create Corrective Action Request
A new Corrective Action Request (CAR) can be created either by selecting the "Create CAR" option on the main menu or by clicking the "Create" button located in the top-right of the View Internal/Supplier/Customer CARs pages.
There are three types of CARs that can be created. Each type can be initiated through one of the sub-menus at the top of the page.
Internal CARs are conducted by your own company and are visible only to your company's users.
Supplier CARs are initiated by a customer for one of their suppliers. After the customer provides basic information about the nonconformance and CAR requirements, it is then "issued" to the supplier. At this stage, the customer can establish Due Dates for specific sections, and the supplier has the option to "start" the CAR, after which they complete the remainder of the CAR form as their corrective actions are decided and developed. As each section is finished, the supplier can provide a signature to submit them, and the customer can choose to approve or disapprove.
Customer CARs are initiated by a supplier on behalf of a customer. The supplier can initiate and complete the CAR, assign due dates, and both sign and approve each section without customer input. However, the customer also has the ability assign due dates and approve sections if they wish.
Customer Info
Customer Name
Account name of the customer associated with the CAR. This field is completed automatically with your own company's account name when creating a Supplier CAR.
Customer Division
Division at the customer, usually corresponding with a facility or location. This field will only appear if the customer has configured divisions in their Net-Inspect account.
A user who is attempting to access an CAR may need to be aligned with either its Supplier Division or Customer Division in order to open it.
Supplier Info
Supplier Name
Account name of the supplier associated with the CAR. This field is completed automatically with your own company's account name when creating an Internal or Customer CAR.
Supplier Code
Optional. Customer's designation for the supplier. The customer can preset one or more supplier codes for a supplier through the Suppliers setup page; if this is done, then the field will be completed automatically upon selecting a supplier.
Supplier Division
Division at the supplier, usually corresponding with a facility or location. This field will only appear if the supplier has configured divisions in their Net-Inspect account.
CAR Info
Source
Type of document from which the corrective action request is derived. If "Audit" or "eTag" is chosen, then a specific Net-Inspect record can be selected and hyperlinked.
Source Record
Optional (if "Other" is selected as a Source). Reference number or location of an eTag, Audit, or other record from which the corrective action request is derived.
Severity
Optional. Priority level or importance of the issue.
Part Number
Optional. Number of the part which the CAR concerns, if any.
Part Name
Optional. Name of the part which the CAR concerns, if any. If a part number is entered, then the part record's aligned programs (and divisions, if applicable) are used to determine which users can access the CAR.
Program
Airplane program, product or license type, or other group to which the CAR belongs. The list of available programs is usually associated with the selected Customer and, depending on their security settings, may be limited to the programs aligned with the selected part number (if any).
If a program is selected, then only users aligned with that program can open the CAR. If a part number is also selected, then instead, access to the CAR is determined by the part's aligned programs.
PO Number
Optional. Purchase order number(s) associated with the CAR.
PO Quantity
Optional. Number of ordered parts, as specified on the PO.
Discrepant Quantity
Optional. Number of parts affected by the problem described in the CAR.
