Importing a FAIR From Excel
The Excel option available through the "Import FAI Report" section of the Create FAIR page allows a user to both obtain and input data into a FAIR template, as well as upload the template to create, edit, or overwrite a Net-Inspect FAIR.
In order to upload Excel data successfully, you must enter it into the template provided through this page. Here, you'll be able to download an AS9102 Rev. B or AS9102 Rev. C template. Click the Download Template button to obtain a copy of these files.
After entering or copying data into this file and saving it as a .xlsx document, you can use it to create a Net-Inspect FAIR by first selecting one of the following options. New FAIR: Imported data is used to create a new First Article Inspection Report
Append to FAIR: Imported data is added to an existing FAIR Number selected by the user. Existing data on the FAIR will not be replaced.
Overwrite FAIR: Imported data completely replaces the data on an existing FAIR Number selected by the user.
After selecting an option and providing a FAIR number (if applicable), you can select a file and click the "Upload All" file to process it.
If the upload is successful, then the FAIR will automatically open in the same browser window. This process may take anywhere from 10 seconds for small FAIRs, to 10 minutes for FAIRs with thousands of characteristics.
If the file cannot be processed, then Net-Inspect will attempt to stop the importing process and provide information about the error. You can use this information to correct the problem and then attempt to process the file again.
If a file's loading bar disappears, but the FAIR fails to open, then this may indicate that an error occurred, but Net-Inspect was unable to determine the cause. When this occurs, the FAIR will usually be successfully generated, but any faulty data (as well as any data entered after it on the template) will be missing from the FAIR.
