Requests: Importing Defects and Causes
Navigation Path: Gear Icon > Company Setup > Requests Setup > Defect Types or Root Causes/ Sub-Causes > IMPORT Button or ADD 9131 CODES button
The Import function provides a streamlined method for bulk adding and updating setup data within the Requests module. This functionality is available for both Defect Types and Root Causes / Sub-Causes tables, allowing administrators to efficiently manage large sets of configuration data through Excel templates.
You will need the Requests Admin role to access and use the import functionality. Additionally, your account must have a Requests module license to use this feature. If you do not have a Requests license, please contact sales@net-inspect.com for licensing information.
Overview
The import feature enables administrators to:
- Add multiple new entries simultaneously using standardized Excel templates
- Update module availability settings for existing entries in bulk
- Import industry-standard AS9131 aerospace codes for both defect types and root causes
- Maintain consistent data formatting and structure across the organization
The import modal uses the same interface and process for both Defect Types and Root Causes / Sub-Causes, ensuring a consistent user experience across different setup functions.
Import Functionality
Import
Click the "IMPORT" button to access import functionality. If the table is blank, a "ADD 9131 CODES" button will appear and also pulls up the import functionality.
Template Options:
- BLANK TEMPLATE: Empty Excel template for adding custom defect types

9131 CODES TEMPLATE: Pre-populated template with AS9131 standard aerospace defect codes
- This can be customized according to your organizations needs and additional defect types can be added

Template Requirements:
- Must use the exact format provided by Net-Inspect
- File must be saved as .xlsx format
- Defect Type name must be entered
- Blank module entries are considered as TRUE
Import Process:
- Download the appropriate template using the "DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE" dropdown
- Complete the Excel template with defect type information and module selections
- Note: blank selections for modules is considered an entry for TRUE
- Save the file as .xlsx format
- Click "SELECT FILES..." to upload your completed template
- The system will validate and import the defect types
