PPAP Deliverables: Create from Copy
When creating a PPAP Deliverable (PPAPD) record, you can choose to create from blank, from importing an Excel file, or copying an existing record. This article covers the option to create from copy. PPAPD records are defined as a set of PFD-PFMEA-CP with their data linked between similar columns.
Copying PPAPD records will copy the following information:
- All Info tab data except From Division (if applicable to an account) but including the Key Contacts table
- The contents of the latest version:release stage of each deliverable
- The only meta data retained here will be the jurisdiction and classification unless relevant information on the copy page is modified
It is possible to copy from a record directly. In the top left of a PPAPD record, click the copy button. This will direct you to the Create Copy page with information automatically populated.
PPAPD records can also be created by clicking the "Create Deliverables" button found by navigating to APQP >> PFD-PFMEA-Control Plan. You'll be directed to the create page. The default selection on this page is "Create New". The page can be toggled between the New and Import options without data loss.
You'll be directed to the create page. Select the option "Create Copy". Here you can search for a PPAPD record to copy by either entering the part number on a PPAPD record or by searching for a record ID. For example, #1010 will find the PPAPD record #1010.
The drop down displays the following information:
Record ID | Part # | Customer Name | To Division | From Division
Once a record is selected, the page will load with the following information: Customer Name and To Division (if applicable), part number, part name, and program but not From Division. At this point, these fields can be modified to create a more unique record for a new part number, for example.
Under Record Search are hyperlinks to the latest version:release stage of each deliverable. The contents of each is the information that will be copied. Clicking these hyperlinks will open a new browser tab to view each deliverable. More information on that deliverable can be found by clicking the Actions dropdown >> View Version History. Then search for the appropriate version in the table.
When all information is entered, click the Copy button. You will be directed to a new PPAPD record with the copied information and all deliverables set to an In-Work status. The history tab will create an event stating this record was copied from record #XXX for auditing purposes. This record is unique and will be modified independently of the source record.
Please note that any links to APQP/PPAP packages will not be retained on the new record.
