APQP/PPAP: Copy/Delta
Copy a Package
When creating an APQP/PPAP package, the user has the option to "Copy" a package rather than create from new. This option can be found on an individual package in the top left titled "Copy/Delta".
When copying, the package info tab is always copied in full (all part info, contacts, and company information). Optionally, users can choose to "Use Existing Checklist Template" or "Choose New Checklist Template".
Use Existing Checklist Template
- The original package's submission level and checklist template name and version are displayed
- From this option, users can choose to copy:
- Package Start and Due Dates
- This will drive package schedule status changes as soon as the package is created
- Item Dates
- This includes item planned completion and due dates
- Selecting this option will drive item schedule status changes as soon as the package is created
- Documents (Item and Package Attachments)
- This does not include items which are marked as "Internal View Only" and were not uploaded by your company nor does it include any PPAP Approval Forms (PSWs)
- Package Start and Due Dates
- Once done with making selections, click "Copy" and you will be redirected to the new package and the history tab will display the copy event
Choose New Checklist Template
- Changing the selection to a new checklist template will display an empty checklist template and submission level drop down
- Checklist templates will display the most recently published versions of each template
- Submission levels will also display the customer's current allowed submission levels based on submission type
- Preview template will display the selected template items and correlated submission level requirements (PPAP)
- Optionally, the package start and due dates can be copied
- This will drive package schedule status changes as soon as the package is created
- Once done with making selections, click "Copy" and you will be redirected to the new package and the history tab will display the copy event
Changing the part number on a package
Create a Delta Package
When copying a package, it can be marked as a delta package if the original package:
- Has a package status of "Completed"
- Package is not already marked as a delta (ie. a package cannot be both a parent and a child package)
If either of these conditions is true, then the copy page will prevent the user from generating a package as a delta.
If a package can be marked as a delta, then the linkage is displayed on the part info tab.
The parent package will also identify each of its child packages.
All packages which are a parent or child will be indicated on each package list page.
Delta: Indicates if a package is a parent or a child
Delta: Parent Pkg #: This identifies and links to the parent package
Delta: Child Pkg #: This identifies the child package(s)
Child packages will also receive a delta symbol quick identifier on the package # cell.
