APQP/PPAP: Creating and Editing Items in a Checklist Template
This article describes the process of filling a checklist template with items. Additional information on each field is described in this article.
How do I add new items?
New items can be added through the "Add" button. This prompts the "Create Item" modal.
General Item Info
- All items default to item type "Element" and "Is PPAP Item?" to "Yes".
- When the "Is PPAP Item" is "No", the submission level requirements are replaced with a singular "Required", "Fulfillment", and "Approval Signature" option.
- Form Type "PSW" will remove the ability to add "Questionnaire" and "Documents and Templates". "PSW" is a special form in Net-Inspect with increased functionality.
- Items that are marked to be fulfilled internally will require your company to fulfill, ie. submit and approve. The submitter and approver assign tos will kick in in this instance even though the package is not an internal package.
Item Requirements
- The defaults for submission levels 1-5 are displayed above. If the "Default" on/off switch for an item is set to off, the item can still have submission level requirements because these items can be pulled into a package where the submission level typically dictates the item as off.
- If "Signature Not Required" approval signature is selected, an item will be automatically "Completed" once the item is submitted. The customer/approver will have the opportunity to remove the no signature required selection from the item and disposition as normal. This can also be done pre-emptively while the checklist is being modified on the APQP/PPAP package.
- In general, item requirements can be modified on the checklist tab for each APQP/PPAP package to customize according to the agreements between both parties.
Assignment and Reporting
- Items can have multiple required predecessors.
- Assign Tos can also have multiple selections. Users, Departments, and Workcenters can be selected. Any user in a department or workcenter with the correct role can sign for an item on an APQP/PPAP package.
Questionnaire
One question can be assigned to an item. They can either require a freeform text response from the supplier/submitter or a multiple choice. Multiple choice answers can "indicate a concern" to flag further reviewer.
Documents and Templates
Check the box to attach documents after selecting the "Create Item" button. The next screen will load to allow document attachment. Multiple documents can be added at a time.
How do I edit items?
Selecting the down carrot button on the far right column of the table, the options "Edit", "Copy", and "Delete" will appear. Select "Edit".
The details displayed in the table will appear on the "Edit" modal. Editing is similar to the add functionality with a few rules.
- Submission level defaults for custom items and nested element relationships must be respected.
- Changing an item to have a "PSW" form type will permanently remove all documents and the questionnaire. IT will also reset the "Submission Level Fulfillment" to the defaults Net-Inspect provide.
You can overwrite all changes by selecting "Cancel" or exiting out of the modal.
How do I copy items?
Selecting the down carrot button on the far right column of the table, the options "Edit", "Copy", and "Delete" will appear. Select "Copy".
The item details will auto-populate into the copy modal. The item name must be changed and no documents will be copied.
How do I delete items?
Selecting the down carrot button on the far right column of the table, the options "Edit", "Copy", and "Delete" will appear. Select "Delete". You will receive a confirmation warning.
Deleting a custom item (blue line) will nest all of its elements under the previous custom item (if one exists) in the order they were previously listed.
